- Resource Coordinator & Academic Advisor

My name is Marlette Grant-Jackson, a Yurok Tribal Member, raised in Hoopa and an alumn of Humboldt & ITEPP. I am a mother of four (3 adult children and 1 two year old granddaughter). I am the ITEPP Cultural Resource Center (CRC) Coordinator, and ITEPP Professional Academic Advisor.
I came to Humboldt, right out of high school in 1986, stayed for three semesters and then took a 13 year break from college to work and experience life. After having my children, I decided to return to Humboldt graduated with a BA in Native American Studies, and a minor in American Indian Education. In October of 2001 I became the ITEPP CRC Coordinator. In July of 2007 I also assumed the responsibility of Student Services Academic Advisor.
I work directly with students, teachers and professors on campus and the community. As the CRC Coordinator I assist students with everything from finding the materials they need for a research paper, or speech, to laying out and editing video's shot for High School projects and graphic art layouts for visual aids, as well as fliers/posters for club activities.
As a Professional Academic Advisor, my job is to help the students. I work with students the way I would want others to treat and interact with my own children, with firm guidance, positive role modeling, and current, accurate information.
I hope to meet you in person and I look forward to seeing you on Humboldt’s campus.
